Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas orderly and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in several types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is commonly utilized. This model has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is required within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could increase production while making the most of available storage space.
