Forklift Motors
Buying a forklift is something you should carefully think about. A forklift is a big capital expenditure, and a complex machine with a motor strong enough to perform heavy-lifting tasks. The price tag for a forklift varies from $10,000 to $30,000, comparable to the cost of a small truck. If purchasing a second-hand forklift, be certain to have it inspected for possible mechanical issues.
The two kinds of forklift motors are: internal combustion or electric. Forklifts with electric motors are typically more costly than those with internal combustion motors. The motor size should suit the type of work for which the forklift would be utilized. A forklift with a large motor costs more than a forklift with a motor which is smaller.
Propane or gasoline powered motors are commonly stronger than electric motor and are capable of raising heavier weight. The disadvantage is that gas motors tend to develop problems more frequently than electric motors. Depending upon the price of gas or propane, gas powered forklifts could be more pricey to run compared to electric powered forklifts.
Some reputable manufacturers of forklifts are Crown Equipment Corp., Mitsubishi Caterpillar, Toyota Industries and NACCO Industries. Prior to making a decision, research the various manufacturers and the availability of parts. Testimonials, prices and reviews could be found on line.
