Kelowna City works along with its numerous community partners to help and assist the city's cultural needs. The city received an award of $500,000 in the year 2004, for being named the Cultural Capital of Canada in response to its dynamic and vibrant Cultural District. For the arts, the Kelowna Community Theatre is operated by the City and boasts of an 853-seat location in the Cultural District. The Theatre has been bringing people together ever since 1962, and it is home to Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Kelowna, Kelowna Community Concert Association, Theatre Kelowna Society, and Viva Musica. Kelowna City even has Public Art pieces located all through the entire area. These pieces are made by the community's non-profit groups or people. Moreover, Kelowna City offers Arts Grants to non-profit arts and cultural organizations that produce yearly arts-focused pursuits within the City. They work in partnership with the Kelowna Art Gallery, Kelowna Museum, Rotary Centre for the Arts and Parks Alive.

Within the city of Kelowna, there are cultural events and special events. There is rarely any time that passes without their being something new or fun to do. People who like the experience of festivals can visit and enjoy the Mardi Gras Street Festival, Fat Cats Children's Festival, Okanagan Wine Festival, and Parks Alive. Fat Cat Children's Festival is operated by volunteers and funded locally. It attracts various children and parents every year. Mardi Gras offers restaurants and pubs all throughout the evening. There are likewise stage performances and children's activity zone like climbing wall and dunk tank. Okanagan Wine Festivals are held three times within the Okanagan Valley. Everyone is invited to attend educational seminars, taste local cuisine and sample award-winning wines. Parks Alive is a non-profit program which brings art and culture to Kelowna's parks and lakefront from the month of June to the month of September.

The city of Kelowna is considered the biggest city within the tourist-oriented Okanagan Valley, and employs nearly all of its people within the service industry. The area in and around the city of Kelowna produces several wines that have garnered global recognition. There are many vineyards south of the city, where the nice type of weather enables for the cultivation and production of wine. Among the most popular ones is the Mission Hill Estate Winery, which is unique for its architectural design. Kelowna is also known for Sun-Rype, a popular snack and fruit juice manufacturer. The City is the seat of the Regional District of the Central Okanagan, the third biggest metropolitan area within British Columbia. It is also the third biggest in the British Columbia Interior. Kelowna has a lot of lovely lakes and mild type of weather, which makes it one of the fastest growing cities in North America.
