Kitchener top

Kitchener is an exciting business and industrial based cosmopolitan community found in the region of Waterloo in southwestern Ontario, Canada. The city was first recognized as a German Company Tract founded by German Mennonite farmers who fled to Upper Canada in pursuit of religious freedom following the American Revolutionary War.

Due to its nearness to the Grand River and glacial topography on the landscape, the city of Kitchener has likewise a number of scenic and natural attractions which it can offer to its tourists. Its most frequented natural tourist attractions include the Victoria, McLennan, and Kiwanis Parks; Bingemans, a 200-acre picturesque camping resort located along the Grand River; Chicopee Ski Club, the snowboard and ski centre of Ontario; Chicopee Tube Park; and Grand Valley Trails, an extensive trail system that is spread all around hundreds of kilometers.

There are a lot of festivals being held yearly within Kitchener city consisting of the Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area (CAFKA); the adventurous and innovative Open Ears Festival of Music and Sound; the IMPACT theatre festival, a global theater festival which features shows from all around the globe; the Multicultural Festival, a summer festival which commends ethnic diversity; and the Expressions of Social Justice Festival, that aims to bring to light matters in social justice through film.

The economy of the city has been historically based in the trade of manufacturing. Nowadays, this trend still remains because the automotive industry is the top industry within the area. Education and knowledge creation cluster ranks as the second strongest business in the city, dominated by the two universities in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and Conestoga College. This trend is projected to continue with the opening of the University of Waterloo's School of Pharmacy on King Street.

Kitchener city's four municipal business parks--the Huron Business Park, Grand River West Business Park, the Lancaster Corporate Centre and the Bridgeport Business Park-likewise provide significant contributions to the local financial system. However, the current revitalization of the city's downtown "Center Block" is meant to attract businesses to invest within the city and provide economic diversity.
